Well, again, for me, the big difference in time is that in b, I can
open a part or score without GPO loading. Even when I extracted parts
before, each extracted part caused GPO to load before it would
appear. It took forever. That was after I turned off the play
through NI.

Really? I haven't really noticed any differences.
There is a bug in 2k6, where if you have severaly measure number
regions, and several measures not included in the measure numbering
(by the measure properties), several tools work on wrong measures
(measure tool, key signature and meter tools, bookmarks and
probably many more) which has caused me major headaches, and cost
me lots of time.
