I have several programs open but inactive (Fin2004 with one short file only opened, Word, Firefox, Eudora), and I'm surprised to see that Finale uses 30-40% of my CPU even when it's inactive. With only the Taskmanager window open and active, all other applications use 0%, and Finale, even after 15 minutes of inactivity, is still at around 30-40%. Why does Finale hog the CPU even when nothing is going on?

Thanks,

Dennis

Do you have it set to use midi keyboard for input? Perhaps it is polling the midi port constantly looking for input to respond to? Just a guess.

Are you using the GPO for playback or the SmartMusic SoftSynth? In either case there might be CPU overhead in keeping them ready to respond the instant you hit the PLAY button.

Try setting your Midi Devices to NONE and see what happens to CPU overhead.
