You might be happy to know that starting two days ago I started
incremental saving of Finale files. It is even fewer keystrokes on my
Mac that you described on your Windows setup, so it is quite easy.
And of course, true to form, the mere fact that I am doing it will
probably guarantee that I will never have to use it to recover data
ever again.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I have been doing incremental
saving of all data files since the days of CP/M on a 8-bit processor,
and an 8 inch floppy drive, and I can say without any hesitation or
doubt that incremental saving does not guarantee that you will never
have to recover data. What it does mean, is that when you do run into a
problem with data loss, it will be on a file where, for some reason or
other, you failed to do the incremental back-ups.
I know this from personal experience. Every data loss issue I remember
was on such files.
