Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I have been doing incremental saving of all data files since the days of CP/M on a 8-bit processor, and an 8 inch floppy drive, and I can say without any hesitation or doubt that incremental saving does not guarantee that you will never have to recover data. What it does mean, is that when you do run into a problem with data loss, it will be on a file where, for some reason or other, you failed to do the incremental back-ups. I know this from personal experience. Every data loss issue I remember was on such files.
