I've not heard chorus used in a context other than in the context of
singers.
To which I would note that I've heard the word chorus used in three separate contexts, either of which makes this a more on-topic post. One is a section of a larger work, a cantata, oratorio, or orpera performed by a group of singers, as in the chorus "Hallelujah", from Handel's Messiah. The second is as a synonym for refrain, a section which is used as a response to a verse; the third of course, (along with "verse" and "section") is as a subset of the lyrics space in Finale....
