It is not *necessary* to copy any imported file into a fresh score. I'm sorry if I left that impression. I have just used that approach as a quick way of beginning clean up on imported files.

I have had the opportunity to import some Music XML files into Sibelius. They work really well and it did not seem as though a fresh score was needed. These were very complex files with multiple voices (piano reductions). Clean up was minor. I was impressed.
