Which is quite true, but just a bit misleading. The classical scores seldom call for more than two drums, and seldom call for re-tuning of the kind that modern composers often require. The list of pitches is a help to the player in choosing which drums and which sizes to use, but s/he still has to study the score because there's no way to know whether a C and a D require two separate drums or can be played on a single drum.
