John --you have misunderstood -- it's a trickier problem that I am
speaking of.
In staff list I 'X-ed" display in top staff and part only. It should
be a straight forward proposition for the program but it ain't.

This seems to be it (in some fashion) except that the new parts do show
on the listing. So that ain't it either.
But even if the top part of a particular system were not a newly
inserted part-- but that system includes the new part (lower in that
system) the score expression will not display. Only if the new part
does not appear (in a system) does the score expression display
correctly. Or so it appears.
There is an old fix for corrupted files where you extract the entire
score into a part and then revert that file to a score file -- I am
thinking this would fix it but have not tried that yet.
i would be curious to know if anyone else can replicate it.
1.) take an already formatted score untouched
2.) insert a new part with some notes on the staff
3.) now go to score view -- remove the old optimization and then
re-optimize
4.) let me know if the 'top' score expression vanishes.
As I said before -- in my second file I got rid of the formatting
before inserting and everything is roses but that first file is
glitched permanently it seems.

I am wondering whether you are talking about score expressions, which
were entered before the part in question existed, using a staff list
which doesn't include the part? You can change the staff list to
include it.
