Sorry about that! I keep forgetting... I'm running FinMac 2005b. Your
instructions did work, though, so thanks so much! One other question
now that's midi related. How can I get Finale to play it just as it's
written instead of how I played it - I mean holding a quarter note the
full length instead of chopping off the end as in how I played it in the
Digital Performer file... Is there some command or setting to get
Finale to ignore the "performance data" and just play it as it's
displaying on the page?

That's in the Playback Controls. Click on the little speaker icon to
open the Playback Settings dialog, then click on Playback Options.
Uncheck the boxes for the four boxes which have labels that begin "Play
Recorded" and you'll get the notation as it appears onscreen with none
of your recorded data being played back.
