That *is* it. Instruments assigned to the same MIDI channel are not independent -- for instance, dynamics applied to one staff will apply to *all* staves sharing that MIDI channel. To correct this, in this instrument list, you will need to create a new instrument (e.g., "Tenor 2") and assign it to the appropriate staff. It's actually best if each staff is assigned to its own instrument, on its own MIDI channel. (Fin2006 does this automatically.)

I'm afraid I don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about. The chord symbol for a major triad is just the root with no suffix -- i.e., "C" = C maj. triad, "G" = G maj. triad, etc. Anything else is needlessly confusing.
