It's well worth taking a trek over to Wikipedia and reviewing the process. There have been two major changes in the recent past. One is that all editors have to register (no more anonymous editing) and an editorial board can choose to 'lock' pages that are being vandalized. There's lots more, and based on what I've seen, they do a fair and open job on topics, with a tech bias. (They are very uneven with biographical entries in the arts, though. Entries come and go. An entry about me appeared about a year ago and disappeared a few months ago. I was updating some bookmarks and noticed I was gone, and checked the deletion discussion. Based on the fairly elementary comments, it seems their deletion team depends on Google hits and academic references.)
