That's not the point, tho. All the OSes process data in UTF-8/16 now.
Even Win2K/XP processes in Unicode even though their display is
    still MS
    propriety code page.

I agree with you--acquiring a Unicode (UTF8-16) *font* is trivial--there are many available to download if you don't have one for the alphabet/syllabary you want to use. It is the *encoding* (freeing us from the limitations of using only one or a few written languages) that gives us the ability to input lyrics in German, Polish, Japanese, Russian, Greek,etc.--all in the same work.

It's not a question of just font but more in data processing. Finale
has to be Unicode native in order to run natively on current OSes.

I have switched from Finale to Sibelius during the past year, and won't look back until Finale switches to Unicode *encoding*. (Well, that is an obvious lie, since--as you can see--I resubscribed to this mailing list when I got my upgrade notice in the mail. ... So I *am* looking over my shoulder--so to speak--just to make sure I don't miss any earth shattering advances in Finale.)

Make sure to notify the good folks at tech support, though. That way they can bump this request up from "very popular" to "extremely popular" (or whatever they call the level that actually gets action).

These days, since you've been away for a while, you have to go to the web-site and click on the support link to get to a 5-page form which asks enough information to fit on a single screen. The old e-mail tech-support doesn't work anymore.

And be sure to tell them you've been working with Sibelius since they have unicode encoding!
