Here's how I'd base the decision for a time critical
project:

If the cues involve a lot of clef changes, experiment
with it later - pretty much everything can be
resolved, but you're going to need to make some more
staff styles. If it's just a few clef changes, it
should be manageable.

If the cues involve a lot of partial measure stuff
(where cues start or end part of the way into a
measure that contains other notes the player will be
playing), it could get a little thick to deal with.
Again, the situations can be handled, but if you're in
a hurry it might be best to wait.

A good alternative approach would be to use Parts
Score strategy, where you use a single file to house
all of the parts, but you don't care what changes are
made to the score. You'll learn a lot about how the
linked parts feature works, and you'll benefit from
many of the advantages. At the same time, you won't
have to worry about anything unexpected happening
while you get to know the feature.

If time isn't an issue, you can go for using the
linked parts as it was originally intended. There's
not much in the way of things that have absolutely no
workaround (I haven't seen anything yet), and at any
point if it becomes too much of a hassle you can move
to either the duplicate score strategy or to full
extraction.

Robert or other beta testers, would you agree with
this as an acceptable overall strategy (I'm very
familiar with linked parts, but I'm no engraver)?
