Chris,

Thanks, that certainly will help me (flailing HP5000n). Not sure how this is going to work in conjuction with the printing presets. I swop around a lot from 2 up and 1 up and frequently print out A4 & A5 parts from the same score, so it could get complicated.

Glad to help.

Also on the same topic, have you noticed that the setting under Finale - 2-up printing - that you HAVE to go to and check EVERY time has some odd behaviour? That is, if I look at it, it is set correctly, but if I DON'T look at it, it is set wrong. This is not just my paranoia - it actually seems to work that way. When I open the drop-down item to turn it OFF from last time, it appears that I have done it for nothing because it is set to 1-up. However, if I think to myself "hey, I check that every time and it is always correctly" then Finale perversely remembers the last 2-up setting and uses it - unless of course I am actually printing 2-up, then FInale doesn't remember it.

This is perhaps a first indication that they really are working on the mythical "ThoughtNotater"(tm) feature, whereby the program is able to notate things just as we think of them. Except that this first foray is only working in a negative way (what you think isn't what is actually happening) and is only linked to the 2-up printing feature.

But it's encouraging that the program is becoming psychic, even if this first step is of such a frustrating nature. :-)
