The PDF reader makes all the difference in the world. Acrobat Reader 6.x was able to smooth Finale's staff lines to make it look fine on screen, but the 7.x version with the same line smoothing settings does *not* do that well. That said, the problem is the source application, not what is used to generate the PDF, nor what is used to view it. The 2007 PDF has no such problems, which means that Finale is now producing better output for conversion to PDF. -- David W.
