Already two ways to do this! What fun! In this example for voice and guitar...

...there are multiple layers overlain and noteheads changed to blanks or
other time values.

In this clip you can also see what happens when the customer wants to mess
with the Finale file, as this one always does. The guitar string markings
ended up in different typefaces. I can't talk him out of tweaking, but he's
the customer and pays extra to get the source file. He also wants
everything except lyrics done in the fonts shipped with Finale, so my nice
Roman numeral font couldn't be used, nor any of the special symbols in
various other fonts. The first time I did a score for him, we spent hours
clearing out fonts he didn't have and refused to install.
