You can add boxes to any existing beat chart by doubleclicking between the top boxes. But you have to have spaced the music in order for the beat chart handle (the bottom one) to appear on each measure. I had not realized this until I stopped to write this response, as I don't ever do any kind of spacing of individual measures until I've set the spacing for the whole piece. -- David W.
