This option works only for those using PostScript printers.

A 300dpi TIFF at 100% in Word should print just fine on a printer 
running at 300dpi resolution (or any even-numbered multiple of that).

My bet is that the graphic has been resized in Word, and this is the 
source of the pixellation.

If it needs to be resized, I'd use a graphics program to convert the 
TIFF to high color depth, resize it to the appropriate size, then 
import it into Word and set it to 100%. Word does a remarkably good 
job with scaling most graphics, but when it screws up, it makes a 
real mess.
