And I STILL maintain that you don't know what your friends were reacting to; the font, the spacing, the line thickness, or what I construed as the original poster's point, which was the inconsistency of human engraving. I don't believe that Sibelius is any more inconsistent than Finale is, nor do I consider inconsistency to be a virtue in engraving, whether by hand or by computer. I suggest taking some of the fine examples of engraving you will find here http://www.finaletips.nu/hofengravers.php and using THOSE to show your friends. I doubt whether many of these examples will be dismissed with "looks like a computer did it" (as if that is necessarily a criticism!) Christopher
