This thread is a little confusing, terminology wise. When people sez sample vs MIDI, it really means sampled sound vs synthesized sound, yes? When you talk about D-50 clarinet sound, that's not sampled but synthesized, but Finale SoundFonts are sampled. So is almost all the sound modules out there today. Even the analog waves are sampled. And MIDI is only a controller to the target modules.
And, when I installed Fin2007, I didn't even bother to look what VI option the installer disk gave. I have both full GPO and JaBB. Now this thread mentioned Kontakt 2 a few times, but I can't believe Finale gives away something I paid closed to $500 free? As far as I know, Finale2007 still has no instrument.txt for Kontakt. I have a feeling you are talking about Kontakt Player, which is not the same as Kontakt.
