I'm trying to figure out how to make a certain notated figure play back correctly, and am not sure how that's done.

When you run across a bar that has, for instance, whole notes on A and B-flat, with three slashes between them, you know you play a trill between them for the duration of the bar. But how, if at all, do you notate that and have it play back correctly?
Generally, the way I dealt with this problem when I confronted it was to define a duplet (two whole notes in the space of one whole note), in one layer, and in another, I notated in sixteenth or 32nd notes the playback I desired. I hid the notes in the second layer, and turned off any effect on spacing, but let the second layer playback. This was done a while ago in an earlier version of Finale (2k or 2k2), so there may be a better way to do it now....
