Can you be more specific about what you mean by 'correctly'? The
basic settings for part system spacing are in Options | Page Format |
Parts; you can get to the same dialog from Extract Parts | Page
Format. Also, in the Extract Parts dialog, there's a checkbox for
'Space Systems Evenly', which will override the Page Format settings;
personally, I always leave this unchecked.

In the Extract Parts Dialog, click on the Options button, and look at
Items to Remove.

If you're talking about things like font, size, and position, in
general you can't change these when you extract parts. For this
reason, and others, many of us will make a copy of our full score to
use as a 'parts score'. In this parts score, you can change the
measure number settings (which of course will then be inherited by
parts extracted from that score), change the size of expressions,
manually delete text blocks or other items, add cues, etc.

In your score, take a look at Options | Document Options | Barlines.
You probably want Left Barlines set to Display on multiple staves,
but not Display on single staves. This will automatically draw the
left barline in the score, or when you extract a part with multiple
staves (like a piano part) but not when you extract a single-staff part.

Ah, so you're familiar with the part-score. No, there are some things
which are still easier with that crutch -- even with Fin2007 and linked parts.
Hope this helps.
Aaron.
