His remark could well have been made about everything we've ever said
or written in addition to every note we've ever played -- for good or
ill, whatever we do is with us forever, and will be there for our
grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren to find. Assuming, of
course, that we haven't nuked ourselves to death in the meantime. But
even then, it will all be here for space travelers to find and
unravel.
Around the universe? I'm not sure what to make of this. Is he talking
about sound waves or electromagnetic waves? If the former, I don't
think they'll get far in the vacuum of space. If the latter, our
grandchildren's grandchildren's grandchildren aren't going to ever find
them unless they first find a way to travel faster than the speed of
light, which, science fiction notwithstanding, is not just impractical
but truly impossible.
