DVM wouldn't work either, i don't use times or arial or any of the standard fonts, i find them to be uh well somewhat lacking in character... they're classic fonts, and work well of course, but i find them boring graphically.
i could make a font myself if i had to take the time to do it, but prefer to find a solution in finale. this is simply something which is not properly implemented in finale, there are two elements available in the same tool which are not compatible with each other.

Steve Powell at DVM Publications makes the Metronome font which comes bundled with MetTimes, which includes box characters for rehearsals. MetTimes contains a subset of Times mixed with a subset of Metronome so music characters can be used in text. He will also provide a custom MetWhatever font for you. I've used them for years and been very happy with them.
