Are you sure that the slow loading isn't a memory shortage problem? I used GPO on my old computer 512K of memory and had time cook a three course meal whilst orchestral files opened and then had horrendous problems playing them back. My new computer with 1G of RAM displays no such problems - yes, files using GPO open more slowly than those without, but we're talking a couple of seconds, hardly time to take a sip of tea (or a swig of wine if it's a really good night).
