Facts huh?
"I'm sure Disk Utility is great, but on Windows, one never needs to
repair drive permissions, so that's not exactly a feature that would be
a relevant point of comparison."
I'm just point out FACTS as well. He's not comparing anything. He could
have just kept this mouth shut and we'd be all the wiser for it.
And your "defense" is so poorly worded that it makes no sense.

What do spyware and anti-virus have to do with a Disk Utility? David
Fenton's point was merely that citing the ability to repair drive
permissions isn't a good point of comparison between DISK UTILITY
programs! He wasn't attempting to start a platform, merely pointing
out that Disk Utility's ability to repair drive permissions on a Mac
doesn't make it a more robust program than a Windows such as MagicISO
which doesn't have that capability because it isn't needed on a
Windows machine.
And David wasn't making any pejorative statement, merely pointing out
the facts, so there's no need to feel a need to see that "it evens out."

Um...ok.......
But on a Mac you never need to run a virus protection program, or
anti-spyware program. So, I guess it evens out........

There are similar products on Windows, things like MagicISO, although
not quite as robust, as Disk Utility can create and restore from back
up disk images, repair drive permissions, etc.

repair drive permissions, so that's not exactly a feature that would
be a relevant point of comparison.
