Why are we even discussing this anymore?

He wasn't calling for a comparison. His remark was "I'm sure Disk Utility is great, but on Windows, one never needs to repair drive permissions, so that's not exactly a feature that would be a relevant point of comparison."

Comparison to MagicISO, http://www.magiciso.com/, is a lot like Disk Utility. Allen Fisher did make a good comparison.

And then I made a factual statement, "But on a Mac you never need to run a virus protection program, or anti-spyware program. So, I guess it evens out........ " in response to his "windows one never needs to repair drive permissions"

And thus the can of worms was opened. I sure he could have just left out the "repair drive permissions" thing, and I would have left it alone. But, looking at it again, the original comparison made by Allen was apt. As for the repair permissions feature...perhaps if they had a scan for viruses or chkdsk function in MagicISO that would work?

So, in all, it was a fair comparison, MagicISO and DiskUtility.

Does it really matter? People are telling David that if it isn't important he shouldn't have bothered to mention it. Fine. The rest of this isn't important, either, yet those who feel compelled to tell David he shouldn't have felt compelled to try for a more fair comparison are doing the very thing they're telling him he shouldn't have done.

What's up with that? Is this pig-pile on Fenton day or something?
