I think what happened is that whoever wrote the readme just forgot to change the syntax. During the testing process, daily build notes show the bugs which have been fixed. That is build notes might look something like this:

- Stem connections cannot be created (Mac only)
- Function X is broken in Speedy
- Importing certain files causes problem Y

Build notes like this indicate that these reported bugs are now fixed. But for the readme, they need to be rewritten:

- Stem connections can now be created
- Function X is now fixed
- Importing certain files no longer causes problem Y

So I don't think the thing with stem connections was meant as an untrue assertion that stem connections are still broken -- I think MM just forgot to change the syntax from build notes to readme. Just an oversight.
