Finale shouldn't know anything about hardware issues, so the fact 
that it has a problem is an indictment of the OS and the underlying 
hardware.

Not really true any more. I *run* Win2K (as do a couple of my clients 
who couldn't stand WinXP, or the myriad problems it caused them), but 
most of my clients have WinXP. They have hibernation problems.

But that's really not the point. I had a Zenith laptop that I could 
close the lid and open it without any problems of any kind back in 
1993. I haven't seen a laptop (or desktop) with that ease of use and 
reliability since.
