If you have a multi-measure-region piece, so that your first movement, for example, is measures 1:1 through 1:48, and your second movement is measures 2:1 through 2:45, you can't enter 2:28 to get playback to begin from the 28th measure of the second region.

So you have to know what that measure number is in absolute, from the start of the file, terms.

But I like to work with the measure numbers shown in the defined manner, not the absolute manner, at the bottom of the screen (lower left) so I can quickly move to exactly the measure I want to work on. And I know the measure numbers in a multimovement work from the start of each movement, not in absolute terms from the start of the entire work.

I'm not quite sure I follow. If I click the playback settings (speaker
button) on the playback controls and say Always start on Measure 5 and
stop on Measure 7, it plays measures 5-7 for me. What am I missing?

Subject: Re: [Finale] Playback Counter and measure number regions

Here's something sucky about Fin2007, with its playback which we can set in measures/beats/ticks or mm:ss:frames -- we can no longer use measure number regions in the playback counter!

I complained to tech support about it and they said essentially that I know the other way of getting playback to start where I want it to (leftmost measure) or I can simply know what the absolute measure number is, but the counter can no longer accept measure number regions (such as 2:34 for the 34th measure of the second movement.)

They said they would submit a feature request on my behalf to reinstate that capability.

Ya gotta love progress!
