Everyone who has answered has told Shirley how to do it in Finale,
but she is using Sibelius, and seems to be a week or so behind me in
learning the program.
Shirley, both Sibelius and Finale (and Mosaic as well) are measure
oriented. You can't get rid of measures, BUT, you can get rid of
both time signatures and/or barlines by fooling the programs. In
Sibelius:
1. Make a time signature with as many beats in it as you need (i.e.
8/4, 25/4, 100/4). Voila, no bar lines. (You may also skip this if
you WANT the bar lines and just don't want the time signature, or you
can set the barlines to be invisible with House Styles -> Engraving
Rules -> Barlines -> Invisible.)
2. You can hide any object. Select (click on) the time signature.
Right click somewhere on the page. In the window that appears select
Hide or Show, and choose Hide. (Shortcut Shift + Command - H.) Or
you can access the same window through the main menu: Edit -> Hide
or Show -> Hide.
(Note: I'm using MacSib 4.1, but these tricks work back through
MacSib 2, which my son has, at least. If you're on WinSib I don't
know whether it might be different, but it's there.)
John
Grrr....
I'm trying to write out a Psalm Tone for my choir tonight in
Sibelius, and I *cannot* get Sib to get past giving me a time
signature. How do I tell it that I DO NOT WANT A TIME SIGNATURE?
Mucho thankso.
