I agree with--was it Andrew?--about the incompetence of the actor playing St. Colombe in "Tous les matins du monde" and his abysmal incompetence in faking the playing of the viol, and the matching incompetence of the director in allowing it to be displayed so blatantly.

Yes, Gérard Depardieu (in "Tous les matins du monde") has the hands of a builders' labourer, or a butcher, and there should never have been a close up of his hands on the neck of a viol_it looked just plain vile ;-) but at least the *music* in that film was well played (J.Savall) whereas in this Vivaldi film which kicked off this thread, it's absolute garbage, a joke, the artistic advisor and the director aught to be shot. It's 2007 now and film makers are still living in 1950 when it comes to the music, with a couple of rare exceptions... "Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach" (1968) comes to mind; it's inexcusable today.

Sorry to be such a grump

I agree totally

The best one, on the other hand, would be Jean-Marie Leclair, got stabbed from behind.
