Jef -

White background still doesn't tell you it's transparent. Can you put another 
graphic or something else behind it to test its transparency? Maybe in Quark 
or some layout program. I know it seems to behave in Finale like it is 
transparent but...

Try this - export the page out of Finale (w/out the graphic) and place it 
behind the graphic in the layout program and see what happens outside of Finale.
