Thank you, John.
While waiting for a possible answer, I remembered that I can save any
file as a .pdf right from the print dialog box. So the Mac functions
perfectly when asked, but Finale evidently, does not. Now if I could
have all those hours back. . .

Using both Adobe reader and Preview on my Mac G5 with Finale
2007c, I compiled postscript files of a 4 page score by selecting
"ALL" in the dialog box. The pages would not convert to .pdf
files, and I got an error message stating that the files were
either the wrong type or they were corrupted. I tried several
times with the same result.
This is all a mystery to me, but I have a problem in that years of
work are in Mosaic files. A very knowledgeable faculty colleague
(manager, in fact, of the faculty training program) helped me get
started converting those files to PDFs, but in order to make it
possible he had to find me and install an older version of the
complete Adobe Acrobat program that would run under Classic (OS
9.x), which is where my Mosaic is operational. It's now working
perfectly, and I'm well started converting my old files, and will
probably still be working on them when my 2002 Mac with Classic
finally bites the dust!
There may be other workarounds--in fact I'm sure there are--but
having the right software seems to be key. (Going through .PS is
an option, but since I can go directly to .PDF that's what I've
been doing.)
