Thanks! But, hmm, it might be so that my problem is even more
basic. When
I select the bars I want to have slashed (with either method) the only
thing that happens is that a blue line is drawn above them.
The blue bar appears to show you that a Staff Style is already
applied. The bars themselves should be blue or purple, or some other
colour, to show that THEY are selected. If they aren't a different
colour, then you didn't select them. Drag around the bars you want,
or else click the first measure and shift-click the last measure of a
region you want selected. Make sure you hit the area with staff lines.
Right clicking
this bar gives me a speed menu with two choices: "Edit Staff style
'01.
Slash notation'..." and "Clear Selected Staff Styles".
You right clicked the blue line instead of right clicking the
MEASURE. It was an aiming problem.
In this situation,
the rests are still visible in the staff both in the score and in
the bass
part (also tried printing it).
If there is a Slash Notation staff style applied, and yet you still
see rests, it is because the rests are in a layer other than layer 1.
The way the default Staff Style works is it covers everything in
Layer 1 and shows slashes instead. Some people prefer to put their
chords in Layer 4, and to change THAT layer into slashes you need to
edit the staff style called Slash Notation so that it applies to
Layer 4 instead of Layer 1, or else create a new Staff Style.
If selecting the "Edit Staff style" option,
the staff styles dialog box appears and there I can go and select
"alternate notation" and selecting "Slash notation". Then I get the
slashes. And the mysterious blue line remains there (it might be
placed
there for easy reach of the staff styles dialog I guess).
no, see above.
But why don't i get slashes directly when selecting measures in
Staff Tool
Mode and hitting "S" (or selecting by right-clicking)?
I don't think you selected the measures. I think you missed. Make
sure you click INSIDE the area where there are staff lines.
Running Finale 2007 on PC.
Good to know.
Send me the file privately (NOT to the list!) if you still have
problems. I am in today.
