christopher smith is probably writing a 4-page answer to your question as i write this, so i'll only reply with: percussion maps.

Dang! Caught me napping (literally!)

Yup, percussion maps. This means in Speedy Entry you hold down the Eb below middle C while hitting the proper rhythmic value on the computer keyboard, and the note that actually shows up is an X head note on the 5th line. (Sorry, but as far as I know, there is no way to take advantage of Percussion Maps in Simple Entry. Anybody know different? Please speak up if you do!)

It also means that you should use the Setup Wizard, choosing Drum Set as the instrument, to use the default percussion map, because NOT using the default is too darned complicated.

And furthermore, if you really want non-standard mappings (like you wanted the X-head on the 4th space, rather than one of the more standard places) then you are going to have to edit the percussion map to make the note show up on a different line than the default. If you look up Percussion Map in the manual and still don't get it, contact me offline and I will send you the handout I give to my students.

Christopher
