never opened IE on my computer!) it's very responsive.

This is a complaint I never understood, as I always found IE to open nearly instantaneously. Well, actually, what happens is that you get the IE window but it takes longer for the page to render.

However, I recently realized that a lot of people have add-in toolbars added to IE. One of the worst offenders is MSN Messenger, because when it's installed, in some circumstances it will try to connect every time you view a new web page (I forget the specifics -- I removed it immediately!).

So, if IE is slow, it may be an indicator that you should prune the add-ins. No one should be using IE as principle browser anyway (well, maybe IE7), as all the alternatives are much much better and faster and more versatile.

I never use IE so I never have added any extras to it. Except that for the Finale2008 help files to work, when I clicked on the Visual Reference I had to add the Adobe Flash plug-in to get the interactive nature of that page to work.
