I'm wondering if the collective wisdom of the list might know this. There's
a quote I've heard attributed to composer Morton Feldman, but I can't find
the source of the quote. It's not in any of his writings that I've read,
and none of the interviews I've come across thus far (including the recent
collection of his interviews 'Morton Feldman says').
Anyway, the quote is :
"The best environment in which to make music is one in which nobody cares"
Does anyone know if it was indeed Feldman that said this? And where can I
find the quote (apart from in this email obviously). Certainly it's a very
Feldman-ish thing to say.
