I know there are composers and arrangers who work with show orchestras on this list so I hope someone can give me some suggestions. I'm adding 2 violins, 2 cellos and a viola to my jazz quartet and need to amplify the strings. I prefer not to use pickups. My string players tell me they often are given clip-on mics when they play for shows.
