In 08, they have a right-click (control click for one-button users) in the Time Sig tool that gives the option "Cut Time (beam as 4/4)" which is what I usually want, so I do it that way now.
Before that, my default file was set to be in 4/4 displayed as Cut Time, so I almost never had to see it.
