Yes it is strange -- one would think that the corporation publishing the application for which this list presumably exists would take it as a serious sign that it is having a huge P.R. crisis and would do something.

Something cheap, something manageable, something which the competing product has done for years -- put an official presence on this list who can answer questions, gives hints of what will be fixed in an upcoming interim patch update, discusses what is on the table for future uprades, solves problems, soothes jagged nerves.

But as long as MakeMusic continues to keep silent on its exceptionally buggy recent releases what else have we to discuss? Fin2k8 isn't being used by many long-time Finale users (it sits untouched on my machine) so there aren't any of the usual "Where is such-and-such in the menus?" or "Why did they change such-and-such behavior? How can I achieve the old results?" Nobody's got any questions because nobody's using.

MakeMusic should be ashamed of their lack of public presence to help stop the hemorhaging of current users to Sibelius!

As David Fenton suggested, there may be a corporate reason for their recent behavior (he suggested that there may be a total rewrite of the Finale code going on behind the scenes, taking developpers and development time away from fixing buggy code that they may be about to abandon), but if we, those who wish to work with the product and many of whom derive income from the product aren't told of this, we are left to arrive at our own conclusions, and those conclusions for many of us have lead us to investigate the competition.

So we're discussing what we're using, same as always. It's just that more of us are using Sibelius to some extent or other, even if only just to investigate it.

MakeMusic needs to address this issue.
