Well, that isn't a great choice, as it will cause 16th notes to be beamed incorrectly. Better is to select the measures with the pattern and choose BEAM TO TIME SIGNATURE, and then select 1 dotted half per measure as the time signature. I still am annoyed that Finale is not smart enough to beam correctly, as the rules are pretty cut-and-dried (beam 3/4 in 6 8ths, but break 16ths and all smaller values on the quarter). -- David W.
