The retrograde tool is notoriously fussy. It won't retrograde tuplets and will lock up the program (Windows) if you try to do so. It rejects many plugin adjustments and anything with smart shapes; even if you delete smart shapes (2007), it thinks they are there -- data check doesn't convince it, so the document has to be opened and closed.
