There was a good reason in 2007; the various updates treated hyphens differently, so one might have used one version over another to get the hyphens to operate differently. There might still crop up an occasional bug that requires you to go back to a previous update; that's why Finale doesn't automatically delete the old version.

But if you are happy with the present version, delete the old one. No harm done.
