set up two expression sets (rehearsals letter/numbers) and staff
lists and hide appropriately:
SC: show only on score
PT: show on top of score and part
adjust default auto-positioning in both so they appear correctly in
the majority of cases (i.e. without manually moving them). once all
are applied, set the PT expressions to show only on the top of part,
and do any necessary small adjustments in the parts.
this problem is not new to linked parts, it is exactly the same
problem with extracted parts (separate files).
