Here's what I do:
Document Options -> Layers -> Layer 4 = freeze stems and ties UP, Ties
Same Direction as Stems CHECKED, Adjust Floating Rests by 6 Steps,
UNCHECK playback. Use Layer 4 for above-the-staff cues.
Staff Tool -> Staff Menu -> Define Staff Styles -> 01. Slash Notation -
> click the "Select" button next to Alternate Notation -> Show Notes
in Other Layers CHECKED, Show Items Attached to Notes in Other Layers
CHECKED.
That way, slash notation only hides the notes in Layer 1. You should
be able to see the notes entered in Layers 2-4.
