I think Owain's point is that while the harmonics are the same whether
you sweet up or sweet down from the halfway node, the "sweeping sound"
in between the harmonics is not.

Not so. Natural harmonics mirror around the 1/2-way node. So if
you start at the 15ma node 1/4 of the way to the bridge and sweep
down (away from the bridge) you get the same sound a you would
starting 3/4 of the way to the bridge and sweep up (towards the
bridge).
