Hi all,

Here is a copy of a note I sent to tech support. I will forward the files to anyone who asks.

ANyone else seen this?

Speedy Still Buggy in 2008a r.1?

I have seen this a few times starting in 2007 and I attributed it to the Speedy 9-flip bug. I expected it to be fixed in 2008a, but here it is again, and I have reproducible steps (on my machine, a 2x2 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xenon, OS 10.4.11, 3 gigs RAM.)

Open the file Tomorrow Is The Question 1.mus
Select the Speedy Entry tool.
Open the frame in the first complete measure of the drums staff.
Hold D2 (MIDI note 38) on the MIDI keyboard and enter 4 quarter notes. Watch the violin staff. Do the F#'s and A#'s all jump down 2 octaves, but missing their accidentals?

When I move the Speedy frame around to different measures in the drum part and enter snare notes (low D) different F#'s in the violin part jump around. When I tried to print to PDF, the notes jumped back into place in the PDF. But this is a case of the screen not matching the printed output, which is of course not tenable in a professional piece of software.

I had flipped the F#'s from Gb before using the 9 key in Speedy, so no doubt it is still the dreaded enharmonic flip bug at work. Quitting and restarting Finale had no effect. This document was started from the factory default file in 2008a (the version that was pulled a day later because of tool pallettes missing) and the notes were entered after installing the 2008a r.1 update, the one that is now on your site.

Tomorrow Is The Question 2.mus is the file AFTER entering the four quarter notes. It appears OK, but open the Speedy frame in the drum part and click on measures 1,2, and 3, and different enharmonically- flipped notes jump octaves in the violin part, so I never know what is actually there (especially rough since this is an Ornette Coleman tune!)
