thanks - I'll try that. The original copy is new and very clean - in fact it was produced by a friend of mine scanned by his Sibelius software (don't know what scanner). The original from which he scanned and produced good results could not be usefully scanned at all by my software/scanner and came out looking like something from the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (it was actually by Reicha) Thanks again for the Sharpeye lead.
