Please use with caution

1. Log in to this computer as Administrator, or a user account that has full
administrative rights.
2. Go to the Start menu >>Control Panel >> Programs and Features. Select
Finale, and then click on the Uninstall button the tool bar.
3. Go to C:\Program Files\Finale 200x\. Go through this folder and its
subfolders, searching for personally-created music files (.MUS) and moving them
elsewhere or backing them up if needed.
4. Delete the Finale directory.
5. Type in “Regedit” (without quotes) in the “Start Search” window and hit the
Enter key.
6. Back up your registry before making any changes. In the registry editor, go
to File>>Export and give it a name, such as “RegBakFinale.reg” This could take
three to five full minutes. If the program says “Not Responding”, simply wait
as the backup is still processing.
7.Carefully navigate to the following key. If you're not familiar or not
comfortable modifying the registry, you may want someone local to assist you:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MakeMusic\Finale200[x]\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\MakeMusic\Finale200[x]\
Delete the entire folder key and its subkeys. Close the Registry Editor.
8. Type Ctrl-Alt-Delete to bring up the Task Manager. In the Processes Tab,
click on "User Name" to sort the running programs by user ID name.
9. Under the User Name column, look at all of the processes ("Image Name") with
your account name. Click on each one, and then click "End Process," select
Okay. Do this for every process except “taskmgr.exe”, “explorer.exe”, and
“System Idle Process” that has your user name.
10. Check your system tray (lower-right corner of the screen) to see if
anything is running. Quit any programs there (right-click and choose Close on
most), especially antivirus software, which does interfere with programs
properly installing.
11. Reinstall Finale from the disk as well as the "b" update. Carefully note if
there are any errors, as we'll need any such information if you continue to
have problems with Finale. After installation, restart your computer (to turn
your security software back on), and launch Finale
