Hello,
I just moved computers, Mac Powerbook to MacBook (ppc to intel).
Thanks to some great advice from Darcy, I got things running and
reauthorized.
As part of the process, after reinstalling and updating GPO (to
Kontakt2), I made my first fresh install of FinMac 09.
Things work fine with regard to GPO, except for two things:
1) The ambience doesn't load. It shows up in the Audio Units
Instruments box -- checked, but grayed out. So I don't have any way
to add reverb (which to my ears is crucial to making the instruments
sound semi-decent).
2) The full GPO does not show up in the setup wizard as a choice. The
only choices are Smart Music SoftSynth instruments, Garritan for
Finale 2009 (via the new Aria player), and something called Tapspace
instruments for Finale 2009.
The ambience plugin is in my system. I can access it as a plugin in
Digital Performer or Pro Tools. Also the Kontakt 2 player is
available via those two avenues.
So does anyone know what I am missing in order to have Finale 2009
find the full GPO, or to find the Ambience plugin?
By the way, I really like that the Aria platform for using the limited
Finale 2009 instruments is accessible outside of Finale, either as an
AU plugin or as a standalone program. For DP or ProTools (or other
sequencer) users, this is a great way to get to know GPO, and for
those situations when you need just a tiny bit of MIDI (for which the
limited GPO supplies these basic needs), it might be the least
processor-hungry way to get something acceptable.
Thank you,
David Froom
